The new offices housing the editorial offices of Archilovers, Archiproducts, Edilportale and Archiportale – the international network for architecture and design – are located in Bari, Italy, in the heart of the Puglia region. The rapid expansion of the group, which now has more than 80 staff, has made it necessary to move to a spacious enough building to accommodate a continually growing number of people.
The new office space is located within a fully glazed rectangular L-shaped structure, which covers a total area of 1,500 square meters. A large open space that the designers have divided, letting themselves be guided by the primary need of organising the different working groups, but especially in view of a further development of the company, with the need for new work stations, even for temporary work groups.The twenty working environments that accommodate the different sections are developed along the external strip of the floor, separated by large windows to maximise the natural lighting of spaces, but above all for a visual continuity of the team at work. Almost all have a beautiful sea view.
Completing the perimeter, there are two meeting rooms and a spacious training room, often used for external events. A large room with tables and chairs accommodates all the employees during the lunch break. The work areas that occupy the first half of the plan and the dining room are built around a large central area, which has become the “recreational heart” of the offices: an area designed for relaxation but also for full immersion in extraordinary projects. Comfortable seats in coarse linen, a series of plants in pots covered with jute bags, and new workstations made with re-used pallets and three-ply shuttering panels.
In perfect harmony with its unconventional approach to the world of work that distinguishes the network, setting up this space is the result of a sustainable project realized by means of a self-constructed collective work. A choice that celebrates a spirit of innovation, constantly devoted to research, which recognizes the extreme importance of the individual, hosting them in an environment where they can easily feel an active part.
